All of the pieces have been assembled from the 19th century to complete this amazing vampire killer kit.  The kit contains (among other amazing period items) original exorcist’s book in Latin, Rituale Romanum (Roman Ritual) that may have been used in exorcist ritual. The content on exorcism is mostly a series of prayers, statements and appeals in Latin. These prayers are loosely broken down into the “imploring formula,” in which the priest asks God to free the subject from the devil (“God, whose nature is ever merciful and forgiving, accept our prayer that this servant of yours, bound by the fetters of sin, may be pardoned by your loving kindness”), and the “imperative formula,” in which the priest demands in the name of God that the devil leave the subject’s body (“Depart, then, impious one, depart, accursed one, depart with all your deceits, for God has willed that man should be His temple”). Example:

Crux sacra sit mihi lux / Non draco sit mihi dux

Vade retro satana / Numquam suade mihi vana

Sunt mala quae libas / Ipse venena bibas

In approximate translation:
“Let the Holy Cross be my light / Let not the dragon be my guide

Step back Satan / Never tempt me with vain things

What you offer me is evil / You drink the poison yourself.”
