Antique Mills Gooseneck Bell “Spearmint” Slot Machine. Fresh out of a Texas barn, this machine although well used and weathered, still holds value with it’s hardened, ornate iron appearance and it’s promise of good fortune.
This apron epitomizes the work ethic in the US during the first half of the 20th century, specifically during WWII. This apron smells of the hard labor of the working class man and woman who busted knuckle on steel to give their generation and future generations a life of freedom and hope.
This apron has issues and I love each one. From the grease and oil which is present in touch and aroma, to the visible wear from years of hard, reliable use.
Used and unused checks from Girard Trust and Republic National Bank, a receipt from the once great jewelry giant Linz Bros as well as a receipt from the iconic, Dallas based Neiman Marcus (when they were still quite a young company).
All are records of money collected and money spent. Not much has changed aside from our penmanship.
